How would you...

Hello S2-02,

1) After learning the netball playing positions, how would you:

i) decide which position you would play?

ii) decide which position your teammate would play?

2) How can reserves / players with injuries still contribute to the team?

Please comment...

  1. 1 i) I think I should decide the position which I would play by looking at my strengths and weaknesses. Basically my strengths are my speed, able to catch and throw the ball. My weaknesses is shooting so I think I am good at playing in the center.

ii) Everyone has strengths and weaknesses so I think it is best for them to chose their own position if more than one person wants the position the team should do a quick vote.

    2) They can cheer up the team as well as tell the players their mistakes after the game.

  2. 1. i) I decide my position through my strengths. My reflex are fast and i can jump considerably higher than many of my classmates even though im short. I am also good and throwing from my goal to my team's GA or GS.

ii)I will first see his strengths before requesting for him to be in a certain position. However he must agree and enjoy the position for him/ her to perform well.

2.They can provide tactics for the team or point out some of their mistakes to help the team improve.

    1) I believe that I should not only decide our positions not only based on our individual strengths, but in the amount we can contribute to our teams. I think that I am good at throwing and running fast, so I might be suitable to be the 'C'.

    2) Same as above. Not only based on our individual strengths, but in the amount we can contribute to our teams.

3 )They can provide motivational support and intel database. As they are observing from the sidelines, they can maneuver about and get an unhindered view of the gameplay from a angle that players cannot. Thus they can spot enemy or friendly strengths and weaknesses, enabling the development of strategic movements.

    i) decide which position you would play?
I would decide on which areas, such as passing, intercepting and shooting, I am strong in and which areas I am weak in. However, it is still quite dependent on the teammates' strength and weaknesses as well.
ii) decide which position your teammate would play?
As mentioned above, the teammates' strength and weaknesses would be the factors to decide on which position they should play. Each of us have our own strengths and weaknesses, so we would decide our positions according to how suitable it is for each of us.

    2) How can reserves / players with injuries still contribute to the team?
They can motivate the team that is in the game by cheering for them. They can also point out to the players in the game to help them point out the areas they could improve on.
